Neonatology 
Seeking Neonatologist for Optimus Hospitalists & Pediatric Subspecialists, LTD. to work full-time at Methodist Hospital in Gary, Indiana to provide care for patients including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of newborn infants in a hospital setting. Neonatology, a subspecialty of pediatrics, focuses on the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn infant. This hospital-based specialty is practiced largely in neonatal intensive care units. The duties of a neonatologist are to provide care services for newborns including the evaluation, diagnoses and monitoring of illnesses and health challenges associated with newborns, and are specifically trained to handle complex and high-risk situations. Neonatologists diagnose and treat newborns with conditions such as breathing disorders, infections, and birth defects, and will coordinate and manage the care of newborns born premature, critically ill, or in need of surgery. Additionally, the neonatologist will prescribe medication, monitor the recovery of patients, consult with obstetricians, pediatricians, and family physicians about conditions affecting newborn infant patients, and read and interpret patient charts. They may also visit, counsel and attend to pregnant mothers and their newborns admitted to the hospital on a daily basis, monitor the condition of such patients and recommend potential diagnoses. Candidates must hold a valid degree in medicine, must have completed three years of medical residency in Pediatrics and must have completed or be graduating from a three year neonatology fellowship, must possess an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Indiana, and be board eligible or certified. Foreign trained medical doctors must pass the Federal Licensing Examination (FLEX) or its equivalent, USMLE, and demonstrate competence in oral and written English by successfully completing the English language proficiency exam given by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Neonatal Nurse Practitioners
We are seeking masters prepared nurse practitioners for neonatal care in Level II and Level III centers. Candidates must be comfortable with all aspects of neonatal care including respiratory, nutrition, and delivery room care. We provide family centered care and good interpersonal skills are a must as practitioners work with nursing, physicians and other practitioners. Teaching and research skills desired. Pediatric Hospitalist
Immediate opening for Pediatric Hospitalists at a Lake County, Illinois facility. Optimus Hospitalists & Pediatric Subspecialists, Ltd (Optimus) formerly known as Midwest NeoPed Associates, Ltd (NeoPed) is actively recruiting for candidates with minimal 2 years experience that include working in a high functioning Level IIE Special Care Nursery (SCN). The physician will share responsibilities as Primary Hospitalist for unattached/referred pediatric patients, cover the pediatric floor, attend low to medium risk Deliveries/Cesarean Sections based on Criteria. Neonatologists manage the Special Care Nursery. The Hospital has a significiant complement of Pediatric Subspecialists, and Tertiary facility Subspecialty/Referral Support. Optimus is a multispecialty group consisting of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, and pediatric hospitalists providing services to hospital clients in Illinois and Northwest Indiana.
